THE STORY
Gloria Da Silva, a North London-based narrative painter and illustrator, draws on her Angolan heritage to weave cultural prints and poetry into personal stories of navigating life as a black woman. Jovita, Maria and Luzia celebrates the diversity of black hair and the transformation that unfolds in the bedroom, activating the figure’s autonomy through reflections. Some engage in an oppositional gaze as they react to their surveillance.
