Blue Moon, 2024

Patrick Hughes (b. 1939) is a British artist and pioneer of 'reverspective', the art of constructing paintings in reverse perspective to create the illusion of space folding toward the viewer. 'Blue Moon' pays homage to Yves Klein, letting blue paint spill beyond its frame to symbolise how art extends into the world. Contained yet overflowing, it dissolves the border of the canvas, where meaning lies in what refuses to stay framed.
