La Kaz, 2019

Fabien Vilrus (b. 1990) is a Parisian photographer exploring Creole culture through a visual and anthropological lens, documenting how colonisation has shaped identity across Réunion, Mauritius and beyond. 'La Kaz', refers to a Creole house that has stood the test of time in Réunion Island, was previously exhibited at Balice Hertling, Paris. Enduring yet living, it holds architecture as archive, where identity lies in the home that remains.
