A walk around Lake Mutanda, 2026

Christian Cassiel (b. 1993) is a London-based photographer whose work traverses portraiture, nature and interior environments across the Americas, Asia and Africa, reaching below the surface to document the world's beauty. Photographed on assignment in Uganda, this image captures fishermen crossing Lake Mutanda at dusk, set against the dormant Muhavura volcano. For Cassiel, watching them cross and re-cross the water became his own end-of-day ritual, a quiet counterpart to the work of the day.
